Youth Mental Health First Aid®

(This is a blended course, with self-paced online pre-work and an in-person Instructor-led session.)

Do you live, work, or worship in Alameda County, California? Come join us for a day of learning and growth at our free Youth Mental Health First Aid Training! This insightful training is attentive to BIPOC, LBGTQ+, and people of faith, and will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to support young people ages 12-18 who are struggling with mental health challenges. The training is led by MHFA Instructor Rev. Toni Dunbar, and generously sponsored by Alameda County Behavioral Health Community Based Learning. The event will be held at City of Refuge United Church of Christ, 8400 Enterprise Way, Oakland, CA 94621, on Saturday June 15, 2024, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Materials, continental breakfast and lunch are included. You may earn 7.5 CEUs. Not connected to Alameda County? You may attend this $170-value training for only $99, a 60% discount. Is there a cost to attend the training?

If you live, work, or worship in Alameda County this training is free, generously underwritten by Alameda County Behavioral Health Services Community Based Learning. If you are not connected to Alameda County, your cost for this $170-value training is only $99, a 60% discount.

Will lunch or refreshments be provided during the training event?

Yes. Continental breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided.

How do I register for the training?

Send your request to MHFA@heritagellc.us or text to ((510) 255-0686 (include your email address). You will receive an email response with detailed instructions, including registration and enrollment, completing evaluations, pre-work requirements and access to course materials and your certificate.

Are there any prerequisites for attending the training event?

Yes. Complete all pre-work (Segments 1-9) prior to your scheduled session. This includes a 2-hour self-paced session. Failure to do so will result in you being unenrolled from the course and unable to attend the Instructor-led session.

Will there be any materials or resources provided at the training event?

Yes. You will receive a printed version of the Youth Mental Health First Aid® Participant Processing Guide for your use during the training, and the 200+page Youth Mental Health First Aid® Participant Manual for your continuing reference.

What if I have to cancel?

Contact your course coordinator at MHFA@heritagellc.us or (510) 255-0686. You may cancel any time prior to the training, and request a refund. You will not, however, receive a refund if you are dis-enrolled due to incomplete pre-work at the commencement of training.

Can I still attend the Instructor-led session if I haven’t completed my pre-work?

Failure to complete your pre-work prior to the commencement of training will result in you being unenrolled from the course and unable to attend the Instructor-led session. If you are re-enrolled in a future course, you will need to restart your evaluations and pre-work.

What is your refund policy?

You may cancel your enrollment any time prior to the training, and request a refund. You will not, however, receive a refund if you are dis-enrolled due to incomplete pre-work.

Can I receive a certificate of completion for attending the training event?

Yes. You can download your Certificate after completing the training. Your certification is valid for three (3) years.

Can I earn CEUs?

Yes. If eligible, you can earn 7.5 CEUs. Contact your licensing organization.
