***MUST HAVE A YOUTH 17 YEARS OR YOUNGER FOR THIS CLINIC. ANY ADULT THAT SHOWS UP WITHOUT A YOUTH WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE. JASON'S LAKE IS YOUTH-ADULT ONLY AND CATCH AND RELEASE ONLY***

Enjoy a saltwater fishing clinic at Jason's Lake at Botany Bay Wildlife Management Area (WMA). This is a new program we are piloting where we will teach you how to fish while actively fishing.

We will teach you how to tie knots, rig your rod, how to cast, what bait to use, and what fish you can catch! Please note that this is a very remote area as it is a WMA.

Details for the event:

Time Slots: Choose between 9AM-11AM and 11AM-1PM. Only 10 spots per slot are available.

Clinic: We will be meeting in the parking lot at Jason's Lake. Once everyone is there, we will start fishing. We will help you with casting, tieing knots, baiting, and what to do if you catch a fish. Rods and reels, bait, and tackle are provided for the duration of the clinic. This is a catch-and-release clinic. You *MUST* have a valid SC saltwater fishing license if you are 16 and older and you must have a youth 17 or younger in order to fish. Two adults can fish with 1 youth.

What to bring: Dress is casual. Check the weather report and dress appropriately as you will be outside. Other items to consider bringing include a hat, sunglasses, sunblock, bug spray, beach chair, snacks, and reusable water bottle(s). There is no bathroom out there so plan accordingly. You can have your saltwater fishing license as a screenshot on your phone or have it in your pocket, bag, or wallet.

Costs: The program is free of charge.

Weather: This clinic will be held if the weather is good; if it is too windy and/or rainy, we will postpone.

Parking: Meet at the parking lot on Jason's Lake. Once you enter into the gates of Botany Bay, please check-in your vehicle in at the front kiosk. You can grab a map from the kiosk to see where Jason's Lake is located. You'll drive down to the stop sign where you can either make a right towards the beach or left. You make that left and follow the road over the dike until you see a sign that says "Fishing Clinic".
