About this event

Health • Mental health

For every person struggling with substance use, at least two family members are directly affected—yet families rarely receive the support or skills they need. Too often dismissed as “enabling” or “codependent,” they are overlooked instead of recognized for what research confirms: families can be a powerful force for change when given the right tools.

This workshop invites participants to rethink outdated narratives and explore the evidence-based perspective of CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training). Through reflection, discussion, and experiential exercises, you’ll experience how CRAFT-based approaches help families communicate with empathy, respond strategically, and create conditions that support positive change.

You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation of the transformative role families can play, a felt sense of some of the skills and perspectives within CRAFT-based approaches, and practical ways to empower family members in your work.
