About this event

  • 1 hour

Join Yoga Sanctuary, a nonprofit studio on the east side of Lake Harriet, for a meditative and reflective guided yoga practice on the lawn by the new Welcome Center at Lakewood. Every Sunday throughout the summer, teachers will lead a holistic, mindful yoga practice.

All people—brand new and experienced yoga practitioners—will enjoy this energy balancing practice promoting strength, flexibility, balance and clarity in this beautiful and inspiring venue. We will use mindful movement and guided breathing techniques to help settle our thoughts, flowing and holding postures to support the physical body, and rest to connect with the soul. Modifications to ease or intensify poses will be sprinkled throughout the class.

We welcome all to join us for this weekly offering, to hold space for ourselves to reflect on the week before, be present in the moment, and provide a relaxing start to the week.

What to bring

About the Lakewood Welcome Center Lawn

Across the street from our new Welcome Center, along the fence running next to 36th Street, is a beautiful open space with a mix of shaded tree canopy and open sunny space, perfect for outdoor reflection. As an arboretum, Lakewood is dedicated to providing new ways for our community to engage with nature and the vast green space of Lakewood. This beautiful open area, surrounded by native plants and pollinator gardens, is the perfect place to enjoy nature in the heart of the city.

Restrooms

Restrooms will not be available at Lakewood until 10 AM when the Garden Mausoleum and Community Mausoleum open. If you utilize restrooms in these spaces, please be quiet and respectful as families may be visiting loved ones.

How does pricing work for this event? Set the price of your ticket at any amount, including zero dollars. What transportation and parking options do I have?

Parking (free) is available along all roads inside the cemetery, unless signage indicates otherwise. Metro Transit lines 6 and 23 stop near Lakewood's front gates at 36th & Hennepin Avenue, about 1-2 blocks away from Welcome Center Lawn. If you arrive by bicycle, lock your bike at the rack near the front gates and walk to the Welcome Center Lawn.
