Yellowstone by Jennifer Barclay, directed by Pesha RudnickYellowstone is a dark comedy set in Wyoming, at the border of Yellowstone National Park, and is the first in Jennifer Barclay’s national parks trilogy. We are thrust into the middle of a land-grabbing, fracking fight between a group of working-class, rural, conservative white male characters—played by a multiracial company of women. Yellowstone is a multi-leveled, wild ride, giving us a theatrical lens through which we can view both sides of the national political divide. Jennifer Barclay is a DC-based and Chicago-bred actor-turned-playwright. Her play Ripe Frenzy won the NNPN 2016 Smith Prize for Political Theatre and the 2018 Dramatists Guild Fund Writers Alliance Grant, and had a 2018 NNPN Rolling World Premiere. Jennifer’s plays have been produced and developed by Steppenwolf, Woolly Mammoth, La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe, RedCat, The Kennedy Center, Center Stage, BETC, PlayPenn, The International Theatre of Vienna and The Edinburgh Fringe. Fellowships / Residencies: MacDowell Colony, VCCA, Hawthornden International Writers Retreat, Ojai Playwrights Conference, New Harmony, South Coast Rep, Center Stage and Arena Stage. Education: Northwestern University and UC San Diego (MFA with Naomi Iizuka) and is proud to be an NNPN Affiliated Artist, a member of the Dramatists Guild, and an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland. <a href="https://barclaystudios.com/jennifer/index.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jennifer Barclay website</a>Pesha Rudnick is the founding artistic director of Local Theater Company in Boulder, CO, where she pursues the company’s mission to discover and develop new American plays. For Local Theater Company, Pesha directed twenty new works including the world premiere productions of Paper Cut (Colorado Theater Guild winner, Best New Play) by Andrew Rosendorf, Discount Ghost Stories: Songs from the Rockies music and lyrics by Alexander Sage Oyen, book by Rob Wright and Pesha Rudnick; Elijah: An Adventure by Michael Mitnick (Colorado Theater Guild Nomination Best New Play), Faith by James McLindon (Colorado Theater Guild nomination, Best New Play), The Firestorm by Meridith Friedman (Colorado Theater Guild nomination, Best New Play). Pesha curated the digital series “Living Room Local” in 2020 and the past ten annual new play festivals, Local Lab.

COVID 19 policyAs we return to our on-campus venues and live events, the well-being of our students, patrons, artists, staff members, and community is our first priority. Protocols for attending in-person events continue to evolve in conjunction with evolving state, local, and university health guidelines. We appreciate your flexibility as these are updated over the course of the season. The UCSB Department of Theater and Dance will be instituting the following vaccination and mask policies for our 2021-2022 public events. Proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result must be presented for entry. Full vaccination means a final vaccine dose is administered at least 14 days prior to the event. Vaccine verification documentation will be required upon arrival, along with government-issued photo ID. Negative COVID-19 test results must be from a PCR test performed by a state-approved provider administered no more than 72 hours prior to the performance. (Rapid or Antigen tests are not accepted as a proof for entry.) This vaccine requirement also applies to university students, staff, and volunteers.Proof of vaccination and negative COVID-19 PCR tests can be supplied upon arrival to the venue in one of two ways:· Physical vaccination card or negative COVID-19 PCR test paperwork and a photo ID. · Photo of your vaccination card or negative COVID-19 PCR test through your smartphone and a photo ID.
