Women Stand Up NYC (WSU) - Comedy Show Live at Reverie Brewing

About this event

Women Stand Up NYC (WSU) is NYC's premiere stand up production company dedicated to empowering folks of marginalised genders. They're most known for their Newbie Program where they run a 6 week Stand Up Comedy Program where they breakdown stand up comedy for a cohort and guide them in preparing their "Tight 5's". Their company evens the playing field in an industry predominantly dominated by men. We're excited to come to Connecticut and spread the word of our company as well as raise funds for the rest of our season.

Tickets are $25 and include your first beer.

Paula J. Leon is a NY based peruvian comedian/actor. She's so multihyphenate she'd rather you ask her "What can't you do?" and she'd say "Calculus". Paula is a co-producer at Women Stand Up NYC as well as their Media Manager, (she hopes you like the poster!). She's been doing stand up since 2019, participated in the 2021 Solocom Festival at the PIT. You can catch her performing all over NYC and has had the pleasure of having her comedy enjoyed all over the world thanks to covid related streaming. Paula graduated early from NYU Tisch and is now exploring the world of Stem at The New School. Follow this little latina as she navigates pretty much everything @Paulita_chatita on IG.

Susan Dorf is a co-producer and the Head of Production for Women Stand Up NYC. After graduating from NYU with a major in acting (and a minor in math), she jumped head first into comedy. She’s been doing standup for about 3 years now but hopes to keep going until she drops! Her comedy usually centers around her family, queerness, and past traumas that need and deserve a laugh. When she’s not performing stand up, Susan bartends and serves at the oldest bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Leorah Wood is a triple threat--actress, comedian, and barista. She recently graduated with her BFA in Drama from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She discovered standup through New York City’s first female led stand up comedy group, Women Stand Up, and where she now serves as Head of Education. She is proficient at kazoo.

Sarah Salbu Young is a Newtown native who currently lives in Central MA. She’s a big fan of comedy and is a novice standup comedian who has performed at Laugh Boston and the Comedy Studio in Somerville, MA.

Amma Marfo: After years of writing about comedy, she decided to take to the stage – on the nudge of a dare. Five years later, she's appeared at the Black Women in Comedy Festival, Rogue Island Comedy Festival, and will compete later this month in New England's Funniest Comedian.

Ish Gupta is a comedian based in New Haven, CT who has done stand-up all over New England and beyond. He has performed at the Connecticut Comedy Festival, Rubber City Comedy Festival, and Tower City Comedy Festival (in addition to various clubs, bars, music venues, coffeeshops, art galleries, and one motorcycle store). He's also been lucky enough and very grateful to host for headliners such as Andrew Kennedy, Carmen Lagala, and Kevin McAffrey. He can probably do comedy without swearing if you need that sort of thing. He has written satire for the Hard Times, and his hair can be whatever you want.
