Writing Together

Awakenings provides survivors of sexual violence with a trauma-informed, inclusive art-making experience that encourages healing.We believe the power of art-making as healing is amplified when we integrate into a creative community. We help survivors of sexual violence heal through art by providing year-round art workshops, storytelling events, and more at our studio space in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago. Our programming allows survivors to connect with each other through communal, healing arts activities in a safe, trauma-informed environment.

In this workshop, participants will be invited to write short stories and poems through prompts in response to survivor artwork on display.

In this workshop, participants will be invited to write short stories and poems through prompts in response to survivor artwork on display in Awakenings’ gallery. Participants will have the option to share what they write during the workshop in an encouraging environment. Awakenings will provide writing materials. Participants are also welcome to bring in their own writing materials including tablets, phones, etc.Folks of any writing experience (or entirely beginner!) are welcome.S﻿unday, 02/05 | 1-3:30pm | 4001 N.
