T﻿uesday, April 18, 2023 | 7:00 - 9:00pm (In person)D﻿ESCRIPTION:Your written proposal is likely your first shot at impressing a commissioning editor or funder so it's important to craft a proposal that demands attention. Using real-world examples, students will learn about the various elements of a documentary proposal, how to craft a proposal that stands out amongst the crowd, and practice creating these elements as it relates to a project of their own.LOCATION: Docs In Progress8560 2nd Ave Suite 113, Silver Spring, MD 20910Docs In Progress is located on the ground level of the Alexander House. Metro Station Red Line: Silver Spring (walking distance 5-7 minutes).TEACHING ARTIST: Justin ReifertJustin Reifert is a filmmaker, producer, and educator. His latest documentary short, Never Again Para Nadie, has screened at IFFBoston, the United Nations Association Film Festival, and the Woodstock Film Festival, among many others. It won Best Social Justice Film at the Big Muddy Film Festival, Best Documentary Short at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival, as well as the Jury Award for Documentary Short at the Anchorage International Film Festival. He also works as a producer on political ads and most recently was the lead producer for paid media for Stacey Abrams' 2022 campaign for governor of Georgia. He has been an Assistant Professor in Residence at Northwestern University in Qatar and Assistant Professor of Film Studies and Production at Oakland University in Rochester, MI. He holds BAs in International Relations and Russian Language from Michigan State University, a graduate certificate in Documentary Filmmaking from The George Washington University, and an MFA in Documentary Media from Northwestern University.FEESEarly registration: $65 (ends on April 6)General admission: $75 (ends on April 15)Late registration: $85 (ends on April 18, 3pm)REFUND POLICYIf your circumstances change and you must withdraw from a class after registering, please be aware of our refund policy:Withdrawal 30 or more calendar days before the first day of a program: 75% refundWithdrawal 11-29 calendar days before the first day of a program: 50% refundWithdrawal 10 or fewer calendar days before a program: No refund
