Writing the Artist’s Statement:
An Intuitive Approach
An online workshop led by Jameela F. Dallis
Monday, May 17, 2021: 7-8:30 PM ET via Zoom
$25 for DAG members and $35 for non members.
Some needs-based scholarships available.
In this 90-minute workshop, we’ll explore what makes an effective, authentic, and engaging artist’s statement. We’ll dive deep into our influences, passions, and motivations to revise old and create new statements together. Our approach will be a creative mix of writing workshop methods and intuitive exercises that ultimately bring us into conversation with the people who encounter our art.
Come to this workshop prepared to share your work-in-progress statement with fellow artists. Even if you’ve never written an artist’s statement, or you’ve written thirty, you’ll leave this workshop with a greater understanding of how to communicate your vision to a casual viewer, grant review committee, or panel of jurors.
**Register early!**
After you register, you’ll receive important information about what you need to do before we meet.
