These workshops will focus on using the natural world as a "springboard" for writing poetry. We will explore and "play with" several different poetic forms including sonnets, villanelles, and free-verse. And we will use the wonderful resources and views afforded us at our extraordinary venue. No experience is necessary and no one will be required to share any writing.
Each session will focus on different elements and be independent of each other.
Sylvia Baer who is a teacher, poet, storyteller, and translator has lived in many countries and speaks several languages. She has been teaching English Literature for over 50 years and has created creative writing programs and publications and been the founding editor of several national academic publications. She is a graduate of Northfield School (now NMH), Washington College (BA and MA) and The University of Maryland (PhD), an Associate Fellow of Yale University (Davenport), and was recently named the Poet Laureate of Cape May, NJ, where you can visit her Poet-Tree. Her book, Learning Life: A Memoir was published in August of 2022.

If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Sorry, no refund for cancellations less than 48 hours in advance unless due to health emergencies; however registrations can be transferred to another program in the future.
