Writing From Within
A guided writing gathering using thoughtful prompts and reflection to explore personal stories, meaning, and clarity through words.
Writing has a quiet way of helping us understand ourselves.
In a world that often moves quickly and asks much of us, writing can offer a moment to pause—to reflect, process, and make meaning of the lives we are living.
Join us at Maven for Writing From Within, a guided writing gathering led by award-winning journalist and storyteller Amy Donaldson.
Amy has spent nearly three decades as a reporter, covering everything from the Olympics to local communities. Along the way, journaling became more than just recording events—it became a way to process life, learn from experiences, and hold onto what truly matters.
During this gathering, Amy will guide participants through a series of thoughtful writing prompts designed to help you reflect on your life, explore personal stories, and reconnect with what feels meaningful right now.
This is not a writing class and no writing experience is required.
It is simply a space to pause, write, think, and reflect—within the shared energy of community.
Throughout the evening, participants will be invited to explore prompts that encourage curiosity, self-awareness, and creativity. Writing is approached without rules or judgment—simply as a tool for reflection and expression.
The evening will begin with a short Meet the Moment presence practice to help everyone settle before moving into guided writing sessions.
Whether you write every day or haven’t picked up a journal in years, you’re warmly welcome here.
What You'll Walk Away With
Participants can expect to leave with:
• New writing prompts and journaling practices you can return to anytime for reflection and clarity
• A deeper understanding of how writing can help process life, make meaning of experiences, and reconnect with what matters
• Permission to write without rules or judgment, approaching writing as a tool for curiosity, expression, and growth
• A sense of calm and perspective that can come from pausing, reflecting, and putting words to what you’re experiencing
Charity Partnership
This gathering will support Community Animal Welfare Society (CAWS), one of Utah’s oldest volunteer-based animal rescues.
CAWS is a foster-based rescue organization that places dogs and cats in loving homes while they wait to find their permanent families. No staff are paid—everything is powered by volunteers who care deeply for animals in need.
A portion of proceeds from this event will be donated to support their work.
