TheCenterfortheProfessionalEducationofTeachers(CPET)is an organization based out ofTeachers College, Columbia Universitythat is devoted to advancing global capacities in teacher education, research, and whole school reform. CPET advocates excellence and equity in education through direct service to youth and educators, innovative school projects that promote students’ Write to Achieve, international research that examines and advocates the highest quality instructional and assessment practices today, and sustainable school partnerships that leverage current policy and mandates to raise literacy levels and embed collaborative communities of learning. Uniting theory and practice, CPET promotes rigorous and relevant scholarship and is committed to making excellent education accessible worldwide.

This experiential, hands-on writing workshop series, hosted in partnership with Eve Becker of <A HREF="http://www.leafandpen.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Leaf and Pen</A>, is designed to help both you and your students craft prose with voice, authenticity, and vitality. Over three sessions, you'll explore strategies for finding inspiration, locate meaningful fiction and nonfiction ideas, structure and develop a piece of writing, and establish best practices for engaging your students in the writing process.
Througout this series, you'll be able to:

Brainstorm and help students brainstorm ideas for a wide variety of prose pieces
</LI>
<LI>
Harvest rich writing material through critical reading, guided visualization and other activities
</LI>
<LI>
Structure and develop writing
</LI>
<LI>
Share writing and feedback for effective revision
</LI>
<LI>
Establish best possible conditions for writing within school spaces
</LI>
