Writers Weekend is Augusta University’s annual creative writing conference. Visiting writers offer book signings, readings, as well as a variety craft talks and workshops–all free and open to the public.
This year's featured authors include novelists Peter Heller (The River), Angie Kim (Miracle Creek), and Jessica Handler (The Magnetic Girl); poet Ada Limón (The Carrying); science writer Juli Berwald (Spineless); and Meg Reid, book designer and Director of Hub City Press.
Peter Heller's keynote reading, our kick-off event, will take place Friday, January 24th at 7 PM in University Hall (room 170) on Augusta University's Summerville campus. A complete schedule of events is forthcoming. For more information about our visiting writers, visit literaryaugusta.com.
The theme for our 2020 conference is “Water.” We are pleased to honor one of the River Region’s leading organizations for “sustainable watersheds and economic vitality”: Phinizy Center and Nature Park.
This event is funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Georgia Council for the Arts. Additional sponsors for our 2020 conference include the Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the Columbia County Library, the Office of Student Life and Engagement, The Book Tavern, and the Authors Club of Augusta.
