The Woolfis a cultural and literary hub for English-language speakers in Zürich, Switzerland. We publish a quarterly journal, and we host WriteCon workshopsand other writerly events with a focus on the business of publishing and the art of writing.In 2017 we launched The Woolf Short Story Competition.

<h1>WriteCon 2019</h1><p>At this year's WriteCon we will be joined by three special guests offering  a variety of <strong>workshops </strong>and<strong> one-to-one</strong> <strong>critique sessions</strong> to help you take your writing to  the next level. </p><p><strong>PLEASE NOTE:</strong> If you are travelling from out of town, there will be a ticket option to reserve your interest in a hotel room near the venue. It is not binding, there is no charge at this point; we will  be in touch with details before doing a block booking.</p><h2>1. Pop and Poise </h2><h3><em>Half day</em></h3><p>Author <strong>Jason Donald</strong> will return to us after the great success of his previous workshops and creative writing sessions to help you <strong>unlock your next level of creativity</strong>. In this workshop, writers will dive into the ins and outs of writing and participate in a number of writing prompts. <strong>This is for writers of every level</strong>: from <strong>beginner</strong> to <strong>experienced</strong>. </p><h2>2. Pathways to Publishing</h2><h3><em>Half day</em></h3><p><strong>Andrew Rushton</strong>, Publisher from <strong>Nord Süd</strong> books, will be joining us to talk about the various pathways to publishing. In this workshop, writers will discover how they can <strong>fine tune their manuscript</strong> and <strong>stick out from the pack to get published</strong>! </p><h2>3. Essential Editing</h2><h3><em>Half day</em></h3><p>Experienced editor, publisher, author and teacher <strong>Lorna Fergusson</strong> will be sharing her expertise on essential editing tips and tricks to make your text robust.</p><h2>4. Routine and Ritual</h2><h3><em>Half day</em></h3><p>Author<strong> Jason Donald </strong>runs a second work shop,  focusing on how you can make writer's block a thing of the past! How using research adds new depth, insight and excitement to your work.</p><h2>5.  1:1 Critique Sessions</h2><p>Individual sessions. Book 15-minute sessions with Andrew or Lorna. </p><p><strong>Andrew (Morning Session)</strong>: Send in your first 1,000 words for pre-reading and Andrew will provide feedback during your session. (8 x 15-minute timeslots available.)</p><p><strong>Lorna (Afternoon Session)</strong>: Get feedback on  your book pitch or proposal.
