About this event

Join us online for a new Be The Bridge group, co-facilitated by Lora & Cathy and several other of our WOV Austin leaders in the coming months. We’ll go through Latasha Morrison’s racial reconciliation book, Be the Bridge, and discuss other books we’ve been reading during this season in which we all find ourselves.

Through it all, our lens will be what it’s always been -- how do we have hope in a world of hurt? How do we tap into the things that break God’s heart and discern what is ours to do while He handles the bigger picture? Join us on the journey as we learn together. Future WOV Austin Be the Bridge meetings will be held on varying Saturdays starting August 15th at 11am; but our very first meeting is at 7pm, Mon, August 3rd.

As in the past, if you don’t have time to read, join us anyway to learn by osmosis! Down the road, we’ll be hearing from those of us who’ve read other important books so we can continue to learn what we need to learn through the lens of the Good News.

More about who we are...

In the summer of 2010, several faithful women from Austin Chinese Church started meeting to learn about World Vision and Women of Vision. God brought to that meeting women from different racial and denominational backgrounds - boundaries we weren't necessarily used to crossing. He was doing something new and inviting us all to be a part of it. When Lora & Cathy stepped up to co-chair, it was because God led them both to Esther 4:14...for such a time as this and the beauty of walking with fellow sisters in Christ to follow His leading. Over the years, we've dug into hard topics like the effects of poverty and malnutrition, human trafficking overseas and in our own communities, gender based violence and harmful cultural practices that do not reflect that we are indeed all made in His image. And here we are making room to discuss harmful practices right here in the US. Just as God gave us hope to persevere in doing good work for His kingdom purposes all these years, He will equip us for the learning and acting He has for us. We cannot skip this topic. What we can do is add it to the work He's already given us. We will be meeting online about our current projects and World Vision's COVID efforts on September 19th but for now, we have brothers and sisters here who need the same compassion and advocacy we've been offering others through World Vision.

Save the date! Sandy Grubb, World Vision US board member, will be our keynote speaker for our 10am Sept 19th online webinar & benefit. Email us at wovaustin@gmail.com to RSVP (until our separate Eventbrite link is live).
