About this event

This set of 4 lectures examines the life, career and legacy of one of the most transformational figures in antiquity: Alexander the Great. Coming from the ruling family of Macedonia, Alexander invaded the Greek homeland in 336 BCE, beginning an epic journey of conquest that would take his armies to Egypt, Persia, the heights of the Hindu Kush, and to the brim of the Indus Valley – all before the age of 32. Briefly, he ruled one of the largest empires in human history, an empire deeply “Hellenized” or influenced by Greek culture. Even as he altered all the civilizations he conquered, those civilizations also altered him.
