About this event

The ocean is a cornerstone of sustainable development and critical for the well-being of our planet. It is a precious resource that sustains life, supports biodiversity, and regulates climate patterns. However, our oceans are facing unprecedented challenges, from pollution and overfishing to the impacts of climate change. As we mark World Ocean Day, we recognize the urgent need to protect and restore our oceans for the benefit of current and future generations.

This year, World Ocean Day aligns with the International Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030), emphasizing the importance of ocean science in addressing pressing global issues. Against the backdrop of the UN Decade of Ocean Science, this event seeks to highlight innovative approaches and best practices for ocean conservation and sustainable management.

Drawing inspiration from the momentum generated by the recent UN Ocean Conference, this event aims to foster dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders to address key challenges facing our oceans. Through interactive discussions and presentations, we will explore strategies for enhancing ocean resilience, promoting marine biodiversity, difficulties of placing boundaries between freshwater resources and oceans, and achieving sustainable development goals.

Join us as we celebrate World Ocean Day and reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding our oceans for the prosperity of all. Together, we can chart a course towards a healthier, more sustainable future for our blue planet.
