Come join us for a special gathering to raise awareness and support for World AIDS Day in our community!

World AIDS Day Community Reception

Come join us for a special afternoon at the Indianapolis Public Library - Central Library to commemorate World AIDS Day. This FREE event is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others in the community, share stories, and show support for those affected by HIV/AIDS. Enjoy refreshments, engaging conversations, and a chance to learn more about local resources. Let's come together to raise awareness and promote unity in the fight against HIV/AIDS. We look forward to seeing you there!

This will be a family friendly event centered around the visual & performing arts. We are planning to have a Drag Story Time and a Ballroom Performance (think voguing). The event will also serve as the opening for a #CelebrateUU Art Campaign, highlighting 25 stories of Hoosiers living with HIV in the modern era of U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable). With U=U, we know a person living with HIV who is on treatment and maintains an undetectable viral load has zero risk of transmitting HIV to their sexual partners. The exhibition aims to reduce HIV stigma and promote understanding through the power of personal narratives, and it will remain on display throughout December.

A section of the AIDS Memorial Names Quilt will be on display. We will have mobile HIV & STI testing along with a community resource fair. There will be several raffles throughout the afternoon.

The event is made possible with financial support from BU Wellness Network, C Todd Creations Photography, Gilead Sciences, the Indianapolis Public Library Foundation, the Ending the HIV Epidemic and Ryan White HIV Services Programs of the Marion County Public Health Department, and Roberts Camera.

Registration is encouraged but not requred - just come and enjoy the day!
