DAWN Attorneys for Women are excited to announce a workshop with Lundy Bancroft, author of Why Does He Do That? and The Batterer as Parent. This workshop is geared toward attorneys, judges, social workers, police officers, psychologists, clergy and other professionals who work with victims of domestic violence. Mr. Bancroft will draw on his many years of research and clinical experience to expose the patterns, tactics, and behaviors of abusers, including:
How abusers go undetected
Accountability for abusers
Safety and intervention
Abuse and parenting
Impact of abuse on children
Abusers and the court system
Best practices for professionals working with perpetrators and victims of abuse
Danger assessment for domestic violence victims
The YWCA West Central Michigan and Safe Haven Ministries will be providing information on local programs.
Event begins at 9:30 am, with registration beginning at 9 am. Lunch is included with the price of a ticket.
**Note: An evening event will begin at 5:00PM. Come out to support our local organizations who work on the front lines of domestic abuse, Safe Haven Ministries and YWCA West Central Michigan. They will be providing information on local programs and will be the beneficiaries of our fundraiser. Meet Grand Rapids Mayor, Rosalyn Bliss, and join WOTV4women and DAWN in welcoming Lundy Bancroft. During the evening event, he will be speaking on gaining your freedom from abuse and aiding the community to fight domestic violence. A social hour follows where his books will be available for purchase, and he will be available to sign them.
This evening event is FREE and open to guests and the general public. However, attendees must RSVP.
