Everything you need to know about editing (almost) in one class! This intensive workshop is designed for people who want to learn, or would like a refresher with, Adobe Premiere. No past experience is required.
Note: The computer lab has PC computers. You can bring your own laptop to work with if preferred. You can get a 7-day free Adobe Premiere trial here.
Prerequisites
- Basic computer knowledge. Experience with Adobe programs is a plus but not required.
- Have video footage to work with
We will cover:
- Digital workflow
- Timecode
- Importing video and audio footage
- Video and audio editing techniques, including transitions, and audio levels
- Basic titles and exporting video.
- Color correction and other video and audio effects will be covered as time permits
Outcome
Students will leave with either a short finished video and/or a "rough cut" of a video which they can finish at home.
Bring
Digital Files on a Hard Drive
- Collect video and copyright free audio files to work with.*
- IMPORTANT: Have these files on a PORTABLE HARD DRIVE (portable hard drive or thumb drive). Do NOT plan to download things from your phone or online - do that ahead of time and bring it in on your portable drive

* Note: If you have something specific you want to work on, shoot accordingly and bring in all the files. Otherwise you can just work with a collection of your videos and leave with a draft/test project.

Readings/screenings with editing strategies and tips about filming for special editing techniques will be sent out ahead of time.
