Born in 2003, DC Listening Lounge is an audio collective of Washington DC-based sound artists, documentarians and enthusiasts.  We meet monthly to listen together, lead workshops, audio-field trips and curate Sound Scene. Create a webcam-based interactive system where two people compose and activate sound together (personal laptop required)

Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden

As a part of the 2022 Sound Scene Festival, join artist Yeseul Song for this special interactive audio art workshop. All participants are required to bring a personal laptop to participate but no programming experience nor special downloads are needed. ASL provided. All are welcome!What song does humanity compose? What about a duet? In this workshop participants are invited to create a webcam-based interactive system where two people compose and activate sound together through collaborative body movements. A browser-based tool and machine learning library will be used, and participants will build an instrument based on a provided example so no programming experience is necessary. Duration 1.5 hoursRegistration is required. On June 5th please meet at the in the Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum's Lerner Room, Third Level and bring proof of registration. Yeseul Song is a South Korean born and New York based artist and educator working with technology and interaction. She creates non-visual experiences that challenge human perception and its relationship with our society, culture, and the environment. Her work has been supported by Museum of Arts and Design (MAD Museum), New Museum’s NEW INC, Mana Contemporary, Clayarch Museum, Future Imagination Fund, Wave Farm, Engelberg Center, Art in Odd Places, and More Art, among others.
