Workshop - Data Exploration With Python

Women Who Code (WWCode) is an international nonprofit dedicated to inspiring women to excel in technology careers. WWCode is building a world where women are proportionally representative as technical leaders, executives, founders, VCs, board members and software engineers. The organization has executed more than 8,000 free events around the world, garnered a membership exceeding 180,000, and has a presence in 20 countries. Women Who Code

Women Who Code Portland and PyLadies PDX are joining forces to host a Data Exploration with Python workshop. The goal of this workshop is to provide people with an introduction to learning from data using Python and open source libraries. All levels are welcome. We will go over the basics of Python too.
Our events are geared towards women, but we welcome everyone who supports our mission of inspiring women to excel in technology careers and follows our code of conduct.
This workshop will be taught by <A HREF="https://twitter.com/iff_or" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Melissa Lewis</A>. Melissa is the data editor and Python programmer at The Oregonian. She's a former software engineer and research scientist, and has been a PyLadies Portland organizer since 2014. She's an occasional technical reviewer for O'Reilly Media and contributor to The Recompiler.
Our TAs include: Dipti Muni - Dipti has a multi-disciplinary background in Finance, Computer Information Systems, and Education. She has recently received Database Design & SQL Certificate and has done training in Python for Data Science at Thinkful. She is also on the organizer committee at Portland Data Science Group.
Amy Boyle - Amy is a senior software engineer at New Relic. She previously spent several years writing data acquisition and analysis code for neuroscience research. She currently volunteers as an organizer for PyLadies Portland, and likes integrating cute animals into code whenever possible.
Juliana Arrighi - Jules is a software engineer at Bright.md. She has a background in evolutionary biology, training, and technical support. She is a Pyladies PDX organizer and a DjangoGirls Coach, and speaks occasionally at meetups and conferences.

EVENT COST The event cost is $10 for participants and includes lunch. If you are a student, under-employed, or in need of financial assistance, we have full scholarships available for this event. There will be no refunds for this event. If you cannot attend, you can email us to transfer the ticket to another attendee, or we can add it to our scholarship pool.
