<h3>Karen Bernard</h3><p> In Flash Forward, creator and performer, interrogates feminist culture unearthing connections between art and everyday life.  Sampling gestures, video and popular music,  she delves into an emotionally fraught terrain of how the female body is looked at, from both the vantage point of the viewer and the one being viewed.</p><p>Karen Bernard is an interdisciplinary movement based  artist. She began studying dance at age three with her father, Steven Bernard, a company member with 20th century pioneer Charles Weidman. She grew up in a household which incorporated her father’s dance school, with students crossing through the family space, deeply ingrained performance throughout her life. As an artist and the Founder and Executive Director of New Dance Alliance (NDA), she facilitates creative process workshops and is invited to international festivals. Bernard’s work has been presented in New York City and internationally.  Residencies include Bogliasco in Italy,  Obras in Portugal, L’Annexe A in Quebec, Emily Harvey Foundation in Italy, Brooklyn Studio for Dance and The Kitchen Dance in Progress in New York City. This cross-pollination strengthens an ongoing social dialogue among  national and international artists. Newdancealliance.org</p><h3></h3><h3>Rachel Thorne Germond</h3><p>Rachel Thorne Germond most recent photographs, paintings, and drawings is accompanied by performed monologue and audience interaction. Using notebooks, video images, small canvases some framed on the walls and spread throughout the space, Germond will immerse viewers visually and viscerally. </p><p> Originally from Rhode Island, and the daughter of two painters, Germond is a performer, dancer, teacher, choreographer, and visual artist.  Her early training in art was at RISD summer school where her father was a professor. In 1986 she achieved a BFA in Photography and Printmaking at Cornell University's College of Architecture, Art and Planning.  Based in New York City from 1986-1998, she presented her choreography at notable venues such as St. Mark’s Church Danspace, Dixon Place, and Joyce SoHo, amongst others. In 2000 she achieved an M.F.A. in Choreography from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and afterwards founded her Chicago-based  company, RTG Dance.  Since returning to New York in 2014,  she has continued to perform and present multidisciplinary performances  that incorporate visual art, dance, video, and photography. Germond currently lives and works between Brooklyn, NY and the Monadnock region of New Hampshire. </p><h3></h3><h3>Jil Guyon</h3><p>Jil Guyon's cinematic short performance-videos explore the contours of grief and transcendence through ritualized gesture. In each creation a lone protagonist is driven by unconscious forces into an unexpected environment. Her defining black dress, heels, and unfurling belt form a visual leitmotiv that sets the stylistic and emotional tone throughout the series of works. Archetypal subtexts—the movie star; the femme fatale; the survivor; the lonely wanderer—arise and dissolve, creating a symbolic arena for the investigation of female agency in the wake of loss.</p><p>Jil Guyon is a multidisciplinary artist who works between movement-based performance, visual art, and digital media. Her performance-videos have screened at theaters, cinemas, museums, galleries and concert halls worldwide, including Lincoln Center’s “Dance on Camera” Festival, “Cinedanse Quebec,” “Fashion Art Toronto,” “Women and Fashion FilmFEST” (Best Experimental Film) at Symphony Space, NYC, “San Francisco Dance Film Festival,” and “NOW New Music Festival” among others. As part of the “Toronto Urban Film Festival” curated by Guy Maddin, her performance-video, "Widow," was seen throughout the Toronto mass transit system, averaging over 2 million riders/viewers per day. As a performer, she has appeared alongside Kiki Smith and Alvin Curran in Joan Jonas’s "Variations on a Scene" at “The Wave Hill Dancescape” in Riverdale, NY, and as a guest artist in Noemie Lafrance’s “Agora II” at the McCarren Park pool in Brooklyn. Guyon’s critically acclaimed multimedia theater piece, "At the Borders of Eternity," based on "The Diary of Anne Frank," starred celebrated German actress Elfriede Irrall and was featured on ORF television (Austria). It is currently part of the collection of the Kulturarchiv in Vienna and was the first theatrical work granted exclusive use of the diary. Jil Guyon is a Lumiere prize (Canada) nominee, and has won numerous awards in experimental film. </p>
