About this event

I'll show you how to create a fructose and an iron vat in two different ways. We'll even make our own fructose on the side! I love to dive into the historical significance of indigo in other cultures, and will also talk a lot about it's very beginnings, how it moved into industry, how important it is in many cultures, and why it has a bit of a dark past.

A few resist techniques are shown, including shibori, tie binding and wax resist (batik).

"Better Than Jam" is the textile printing and fashion line of owner Karin Persan, since 2007. The newest space, post Covid, of the same name is now at 10 Grattan Street. There is a small showroom with remnants of the boutique that ran 10+ years that hosted handmade creations of local designers. However the space now is mainly the large private studio of the creator, where screenprinting and textile dyeing occurs. You will be welcomed into the artist's creation space! A little different for returning students but still great and lucky to have.
