"Working Rhythms" Opening Reception
Event Information
About this event
Join us for the opening of our newest exhibition: Working Rhythms: Visiting Artists Interpret the Yard. Beverages and light fare will be served.
Working Rhythms celebrates new work created by the Yard’s 2018 artists-in-residence: Christopher Brown, Niki Lederer, Amy Lemaire, Mark Street, and Gerald Wagoner, who share a curiosity and passion for the Yard’s history, people, and labor. Through film, poetry, illustration, photography and installation, this exhibition captures the Yard’s storied past and innovative future. Working Rhythms explores the concept of work in new ways: new people, new construction, new vocabulary, new materials and new meanings.
The Brooklyn Navy Yard offers an annual program for artists seeking to work onsite in any medium including, but not limited to: photography, painting, music, dance, sculpture, and writing. This program was established in 2013 in response to tremendous public interest from artists who were inspired, informed, or seeking to be influenced by the Yard. The next application cycle will open in January 2019.
This event is FREE. Select “Purchase Tickets” to RSVP.
