Her accomplished path began at the Washington Federation of State Employees as an elected union officer and later as the Legislative and Political Action Field Coordinator. The first woman of color to be elected as a WSLC executive officer, April offers a unique perspective on the power of unions to lift up workers and communities. Keynote Speaker: Congressman Denny Heck Denny Heck is in his 7th year of serving Washington’s 10th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. Since taking office, Congressman Heck's top priorities have been creating jobs, growing our economy and keeping the American Dream alive for the middle class and those working to get into it. He has a unique vantage point on the experience of protecting workers’ rights at the government level.
