After two years of facing the challenges that came with the pandemic, our communities were deeply impacted. Access to services that were primarily virtual required residents to quickly adapt to a digitally-driven environment. In turn, it left many residents behind .In response, the District’s workforce system and community-based organizations are working together to fill those gaps.Working as a community of partners we should strive to knit our services together, providing residents with a seamless experience and meeting their employment and career goals.The Workforce Investment Council is committed to serving as the convenor, facilitator and connector for our workforce partner community, hosting quarterly roundtables that: Inform participants of programs, activities and services that benefit the customer you serve•	Invite influencers and thought partners to discuss new models and proven practices in workforce•	Facilitate cross-partner updates on partner-specific programs and activities•	Discuss areas of challenge and serve as system problem solversYour organization is a key partner in the workforce community and we invite you to help us set the table and foster partnership and collaboration.Please join this inaugural Workforce Development Community Roundtable on September 23, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. The agenda will feature:•	A local jobs analysis •	Information about the local labor market and key areas of need•	An update on Career Coach DC An overview of Data Vault, DC’s free education and employment information and resource platform for residents and workforce professionalsIn addition, the WIC is partnering with Indeed and the Markle Foundation in the newly launched national “Ready to Work” national event series. Ready to Work is a coalition of civic leaders, local and national NGOs, and brand partners dedicated to empowering all job seekers - especially those facing barriers - with the support, tools, and opportunities they need to find better work. A few of the committed partners include Glassdoor, Lyft, Care.com, Goodwill and The Rework America Alliance (convened by the Markle Foundation.)Ready to Work is visiting five metros across the U.S., including Chicago, Detroit, Washington, DC, Los Angeles and Dallas / Ft. Worth, to host a digital hub and in-person events, where they will provide job seekers with access to hundreds of thousands of job postings, interview coaching, resume building, skill-building courses, and much more. The DC event will occur at Union Market from September 22-24, 2022.
