About this event
"Work from the Park" events are back this year at Valade Park to bring a moment of fresh air, sunshine, and nature into your work day!
Cokarē, the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy and Brilliant Detroit are partnering to offer parents wishing to work from the park 2 hours of supervised play, storytime and a related activity for their littles (for ~3-6 year olds) nearby.
Schedule for each 2-hour session*
- First ~30 minutes - check in and open play
- 15-20 min - storytime
- 30 min - outdoor activity that builds on story
- Last 45 min - open play and pickup
*Parents must remain onsite during the entire session and consent to Additional Terms and Conditions.
Each child will take home a copy of the book they read, a snack and information on all 3 partners along with a nature-based activity they can do at home. We are able to offer this for a limited amount of children so be sure to grab your spot before they fill up!
Work from the Park" events in the past have included outdoor and indoor seating for co-working, free high speed WiFi, restrooms + water bottle refill station, free hot and cold brew coffee from 9-11 a.m and other surprises throughout the day! Parents MUST remain on-site (at the Valade building and adjacent outdoor seating) and have signed the waiver to check their child in.
Please choose from the AM or PM timeslot (not both), and let us know who will be joining us for some nature-based fun at the park!
Free parking is located across the street in the lot at Chene + Guoin. Bike parking is available on-site, and the nearest MoGo station is two blocks away on Jos Campau.
Please have your child dressed appropriately for the weather as we will be outside the entire time. We also recommend applying sunscreen and/or bug spray, if you'd like them to have that type of protection, before checking them in.
