The words we choose to use in our communications matter more than you may think. They can advance our missions, further our causes, and strengthen the stakeholders we hope to help. On the flip side, language can perpetuate stereotypes, exclude certain groups, and forge divides where they didn’t previously exist. In this interactive session, we’ll break down the many considerations nonprofits need to make around their choice of words, style, and voice. Then, we’ll help you learn how to make use of A Progressive’s Style Guide, an amazing 38-page document from sumofus.org and activistteditor.com that will help your nonprofit combat discriminatio

n, build bridges, and speak authentically about (and with) the people and communities you serve.
