Immerse yourself in the captivating world of woodcut printing!
Woodcut printing is an ancient relief printing technique where an image is carved into a wooden block using gouges. Once the carving is complete, ink is rolled over the remaining surface of the block, and a print is taken from the inked surface, capturing the beauty and detail of the carved image.
In this 3 hour workshop, participants will unleash their creativity as they carve their own designs onto their woodblocks. You’ll be shown how to use traditional woodcut tools safely and effectively to create a range of marks that will add tone and texture to your design, before hand-printing your image in black ink.
No previous printmaking experience is needed for this workshop - participants will be guided through the process step by step by our host artist!
Whether starting with simple geometric shapes and patterns or delving into an intricate illustration, you will be able to relax into the creative process and leave with a series of your own handmade prints!
