<h1>Wired to Connect - 2nd Session</h1>A discussion on connectedness, the role of social safety, and the power of breath and movement practice to promote healthy interpersonal connection.Friday, August 18, 2023	10:00- 11:30 AM In this workshop, we will continue:1. Explore the meaning of connectedness and what we need to create spaces of authentic connection in our lives.2. Explore the idea of compromised social safety- a factor that may challenge the ability to develop healthy interpersonal connections.3. Understand the importance of “self-belonging” and “connecting with self” – to support authentic connection with others.4. Facilitation of simple movement and breath practice to incorporate workshop discussion- and support continued “self” work post-workshop facilitation.<blockquote>“I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” – Dr. Brene Brown "</blockquote>Presenter: Shenise Henderson Shenise Nicole Henderson MBA, MSS, LCSW, has been in the field of social work for 16 plus years and has dedicated her work to trauma informed care and practice with children, adults, families, and communities through psychotherapy practice, consultation, advocacy, and training. Ms. Henderson works very closely with the foster care system helping to implement trauma informed practice within organizations through continued clinical work and training of foster parents and professionals. Ms. Henderson also directly supports children and families on the road to permanency working to directly reduce the impact of intergenerational trauma and secondary traumatic stress on the caregivers. Along with her clinical and therapeutic work, Shenise developed a love for yoga and holds a certification in trauma sensitive yoga. She teaches yoga in a professional studio, and in various schools/recreational centers within the School District of Philadelphia. Shenise is a running coordinator of an active running group for minority women in the Mt. Airy neighborhood of the City of Philadelphia.<h2>About the Summer Session Themes</h2>After learning skills for workplace resilience - skills that help counter burnout, help prevent secondary traumatic stress, and that help strengthen your work within your team and with those to whom you provide service - how do you sustain these skills? This Summer Series is themed each month around one of the letters in <a href="https://www.therecoveryplace.co.uk/chime-framework/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">CHIME</a> - Connectedness, Hope &amp; optimism, Identity, Meaning, Empowerment.  Using CHIME can help you keep track of your own skills and check in with yourself on how you are doing.<h2>Supported in part by the Philadelphia Department of Public Health</h2>This Resiliency Series is specially offered for community members and organizations who through their work are First Responders or are involved with those affected by the Substance Use Crisis in Philadelphia. The stress of caring for others can affect our bodies and minds. This free virtual series is here to support our workplaces and community and is open to anyone.
