This is an IN-PERSON workshop.
Come to Alemany Farm to learn all about the basics of when, why, and how to winter prune apples and plum trees. This class will focus on the basics of tree biology and care to encourage a healthy and productive fruit tree. You will get hands-on practice with our trees in the field.
Hannah Shulman has over a decade of experience pruning fruit trees. She is a program director at The 11th Hour Project / Schmidt Family Foundation, where she oversees grant making that enables access and opportunity for youth to thrive through nature. Previously, Hannah led community organizing, land use and youth engagement work in the Bay Area. She holds a bachelor’s from Haverford College and studied at the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems at University of California, Santa Cruz and has over ten years of experience pruning fruit trees.
Suggested Donation: $35 per person; no one turned away for lack of funds. Our workshops are donation-based. Your donation supports the farm to grow and give away food for free. Please give at the suggested level or higher if you are able.
