Join us for “Wine 101 with Vine Bar”, an immersive eight-month course that goes beyond the basics and takes you on a delightful journey through the world of wine. Led by Justina Latura, Vine Bar's owner and wine enthusiast, along with Bailey Place, Vine Bar Wine Ambassador, and expert guest lecturers, this course promises to deepen your appreciation and understanding of wines.

Month 1: The Basics

• Understand what wine is and how it's made.
• Learn the art of tasting with exciting tips and tricks from wine experts.
• Expect to taste 6 wines covering acid, sugar, tannin, body, and bubbles

Month 2: Handling, Serving, Storing, Pairing, Wine Faults

May 19, 2024

• Dive into the details of temperature, glassware, wine tools, and decanting.
• Explore the intricacies of handling, serving, and storing wine.
• Understand common wine faults.
• Expect to taste 5 wines 

Month 3: Old World Part 1

Jun 16, 2024 

• Journey through Spain and Portugal.
• Explore Germany and Austria and their important white wines.
• Uncover the wine-producing regions of the Eastern Mediterranean - Greece, Croatia, and the ancient wines of Georgia
• Expect to taste 6-7 wines

Month 4: Old World Part 2

Jul 21, 2024

• Explore the history and wines of France and Italy!
• Taste red wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy, and the Rhone.
• Discover French whites from Loire and Burgundy.
• Experience Italian reds from Tuscany, Piedmonte, and Sicily, along with whites like Falanghina and Fiano (so hard to choose when there are 3000 grape varietals in Italy!)
• Expect to taste 11-12 wines 

Month 5: New World Wines Part 1

Aug 18, 2024

• Learn about the Judgement of Paris and its impact on the US wine industry.
• Explore the notable wine regions of California, Oregon, Washington, and New York.
• Expect to taste 6 -7 wines

Month 6: Terroir and Climate (Field Trip)

Sept 22, 2024

• Take a field trip to a local, organic, vineyard to learn hands-on from the farmer and winemaker.
• Understand how terroir and climate impact wines.
• Wine tasting at the vineyard

Month 7: New World Part 2

Oct 20, 2024

• Delve into the wines of Chile, Argentina, New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa.
• Expect to taste 5 wines

Month 8: Bubbles and Blind Tasting (Celebratory Party)

Nov 17, 2024

• Explore the three different methods of making sparkling wine.
• Test your knowledge with a blind tasting.
• Celebrate your newfound expertise with a congratulatory party!
• Expect to taste 7 wines
