Directamente desde México, la ganadora del ACPT 2023 al mejor monólogo, Wilma, llega por primera vez a Chicago! Wilma narra la historia de una niña que crece como extranjera en su propia tierra, aislada por el racismo y clasismo impuesto por su abuela, quien le prohíbe aprender el maya y juntarse con maya hablantes. Súbitamente llega uno de los peores huracanes de la historia a la península. Se emite la alerta temprana para ciclones en lengua maya. Ella, incapaz de comunicarse con los demás intenta sobrevivir a un huracán sin ayuda de nadie. La pieza también ha sido reconocida entre festivales como, Tiempo de Mujeres, el Festival de Monólogos, Encuentro de Artes Escénicas (ENARTES), y fue seleccionada por EFIARTES en 2023. Itzhel Razo es una actriz, bailarina y directora de escena Actualmente becaria del SACPC antes FONCA con la beca Jóvenes creadores especialización en dirección escénica 2023-2024. Estudió Literatura Dramática y Teatro de la UNAM con especialización en dirección escénica. Se certificó en danza contemporánea por el Centro Nacional de Danza Contemporánea (CENADAC). Suddenly, one of the worst hurricanes in history arrives on the peninsula. An early cyclone alert is issued in the Maya languages. She, unable to communicate with others, tries to survive a hurricane without anyone’s help. The piece has also been recognized among festivals including, Tiempo de Mujeres, el Festival de Monólogos, Encuentro de Artes Escénicas (ENARTES), and was selected by EFIARTES in 2023.Itzhel Razo, is an actress, dancer, and stage director. Currently, she is a scholarship holder of SACPC, formerly FONCA, with the Young Creators scholarship specializing in stage direction 2023-2024. She studied Dramatic Literature and Theater at UNAM with a specialization in stage direction.
