Viewpoints Gallery is excited to present “Wild Connections: Wildlife & Their Habitats Reimagined,” a remarkable collection of acrylic works by local artist Amy Rattner. Amy’s latest collection is a fresh take on wildlife art, encompassing both figurative and abstract elements working together to highlight the interdependence between animals and their habitats. Amy has been painting wildlife for over 18 years, specializing in capturing the spirit and personality of her animal subjects. In this stunning new collection, Amy pushes the boundaries between figure and abstraction, deftly combining her trademark wildlife portraiture with bold abstractions inspired by habitats in California and around the world. Amy explains the inspiration behind her new show, saying, “When I think about climate change, I worry about countless species of animals who are threatened by it. Each animal plays a vital role in preserving its habitat; one cannot exist without the other. I hope this collection encourages viewers to take note of these wild connections and to see them in a new and beautiful way.”
Amy works in acrylic inks, acrylics and watercolor. She fell in love with fine art 18 years ago after a career as a technical writer and graphic designer for Stanford University, where she earned a BA and MA in English. Her work has exhibited at galleries and juried exhibitions across California and in Santa Fe, NM and has appeared in Southwest Art, Art of the West and Palette magazine.
