Join AEC and David Schlissel, President of Schlissel Technical Consulting, Wednesday, April 22 at 11 am EDT for a presentation providing an overview of the financial uncertainties and risks of building new reactors, either large or SMRs, as tools for reducing reliance on fossil fuels. David is the former director of resource planning analysis for the Institute of Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA). His current work includes analyzing, writing, and speaking about the technical and financial risks of proposals to address climate change by adding new large nuclear plants and small modular reactors (SMR), or by attempting to capture CO2 from gas-fired power plants. This work builds on more than 50 years of experience as an expert witness and expertise about the costs and schedule risks of investing in new commercial nuclear power plants.David has engineering degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and engineering and law degrees from Stanford University. He also studied nuclear engineering at MIT in a non-degree program. This presentation is part of AEC's Energy, Environment, and Equity Forum.
