About this event

Why Drive When You Can Walk?

A Row House Forum with Tom Becker, Emily Nixon, and Laura Pauls-Thomas

You already know that walking is good for you in all sorts of ways: physically, mentally, spritually.

On May 9th at 7:00PM, we’re hosting a Row House Forum all about walking! Tom and some friends will dive into why it matters, and then—of course—we’ll put theory into practice with a walk, ending at a pub.

So, bring your friends, bring your questions, and grab your tickets!

Tom Becker — a familiar face to many, a favorite to most—founded The Row House, Inc. in 2010. He is a writer on Christian faith and culture and he leads The Row House as a hub of hospitality, discussion, and big ideas for making Lancaster City a better place. When he’s not stirring up conversations, Tom can be found biking, traveling, dancing vigorously, roller skating, and soaking in live music of any kind.

Emily Nixon works as a registered nurse in outpatient women’s health. She is currently working on her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Messiah University to become a family practice nurse practitioner. In 2022 she walked the Camino de Santiago from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain - a total of 500 miles - with her dad. She’s a Member and volunteer with The Row House and enjoys singing, biking, and discovering new places.

Laura Pauls - Thomas was born and raised in Lancaster County and studied Communications and Spanish at Eastern University. Laura has worked in nonprofit communications roles with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC)'s East Coast region since 2017. Laura advocates for safe, convenient and inviting transportation options for people in Lancaster through by volunteering with the Global Shapers Lancaster Hub and the board of directors of The Common Wheel, among a few other organizations.
