We’ll meet Ajay Tegala, a National Trust ranger, who will show us which animals are preparing to hibernate, which are heading off on amazing migrations, and which tough species stick it out all winter long. From birds gathering for their long flights, to creatures tucking themselves away for months, we’ll discover the incredible ways wildlife copes with the cold.
Ajay will also reveal what it’s like to be a ranger caring for wetlands in the winter - from looking after habitats to spotting signs of rare species. Ajay will also share his career journey, from studying A-Levels including Geography and Biology, to a summer job in Tesco, before going on to a degree in Environmental Conservation and Countryside Management at University, and how that led him to become a ranger at Wicken Fen.
And don’t worry, there’ll be plenty of chances for your students to join in with interactive questions and send their own questions live to Ajay during the Q&A. Afterwards, pupils can create their own seasonal wildlife calendar to keep track of nature’s changing year.
