As darkness falls we often retreat into our homes, but for many of our native animals this is their time of waking, their noses sniffing the air before emerging into the night. The Sedgwick-North Harcourt area is home to a number of different arboreal mammals (Ringtail Possum, Brushtail Possum, Sugar Glider, Brush-tailed Phascogale), flying mammals (bats), nocturnal birds (Owls, Tawny Frogmouth) and other animals less apt in the trees. Some are commonly seen, others only rarely, each with their own habitat preferences.
We invite people to join us at the Sedgwick Hall for a BBQ dinner and a short talk on our wildlife from ecologist David Bryant. We will then go on a night walk as we try to find some of these often elusive nocturnal animals. The walk will leave from the Hall, making our way along Boyd Lane, with a spotlighting activity incorporated for the younger ones or young at heart.
BBQ included, soft drink available to purchase or BYO drinks.
Also bring: Sturdy footwear, warm clothes, torch.
