Gay liberation wasn’t a party. It wasn’t a “happening.” It was a revolution, and the revolution was that gays were fighting back for the first time. There were marches, police billy clubs, blood. Out of the closet into the streets.

In 2024, 55 years after the Stonewall Rebellion, the event that kickstarted gay liberation, the questions become: how are homosexuals oppressed in 2024, and where are the homosexual warriors? What does it mean to be “gay”?

The event will feature Don Kilhefner (Los Angeles Gay Liberation Front/LA LGBT Center), Perry Brass (New York City Gay Liberation Front/Author), Rich Wandel (Gay Activist Alliance/Photographer), Jamie Ross (Visual Artist) and will be moderated by August Bernadicou (The LGBTQ History Project).

The panelist will address the historical context of the LGBTQ+ movement and how it has transformed over the years. One of the key themes of discussion will be the current LGBTQ+ movement, raising questions about the visibility and participation of homosexuals in contemporary activism.

We invite participants to envision a future where the rights and dignity of homosexuals are unequivocally upheld and attendees are inspired to create forthcoming contributions to the broader LGBTQ+ movement and the advancement of all civil rights.

We encourage attendees to participate in the conversation during the question and answer audience participation section of the event. All are welcome.
