About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Over 300 million years ago, a dead coral drifted to the bottom of a shallow tropical sea. That coral is currently visible on a limestone foundation block in Soulard. The historic Eads Bridge's piers were created from an unimaginably violent volcanic eruption 1.3 billion years ago. Our city's iconic red bricks, small enough to hold in your hand, are the gifts of a gargantuan glacier. Public historian Amanda Clark will explore and explain what St. Louis is built of and upon.
