What The Jam!? is an event where people from different backgrounds come together and make a videogame, board game, or card game in 48 hours. All participants need to rapidly prototype a game design and try to develop that new ideas. We ask participants to create a game from beginning to end in within the prescribed time. The brief time span is meant to help encourage creative thinking, which results in small but innovative and experimental games, some of which can be developed beyond the event into a commercial success.

Let’s make What the Jam!? enjoyable for everyone by following these very simple rules:1. Follow the Code of Conduct. PRGDA expects everyone involved in the event to read and abide by the Code of Conduct.<ul><li>APPROPRIATE ‬BEHAVIOR</li></ul>All participants have to exercise‭ ‬consideration‭ ‬and‭ ‬respect‭ ‬in‭ their ‬speech‭ ‬and‭ ‬actions, attempt‭ ‬collaboration‭ ‬before‭ ‬conflict, and refrain‭ ‬from‭ ‬demeaning,‭ ‬discriminatory,‭ ‬or‭ ‬harassing‭ ‬behavior‭ ‬and‭ ‬speech. We also expect the same consideration and respect to be applied to games and content created during the events.<ul><li>UNACCEPTABLE‭ ‬BEHAVIOR</li></ul>Unacceptable‭ ‬behaviors‭ ‬include:‭ ‬intimidating,‭ ‬harassing,‭ ‬abusive,‭ ‬discriminatory,‭ ‬derogatory‭ ‬or‭ ‬demeaning‭ ‬speech‭ ‬or‭ actions‭ ‬by‭ ‬any‭ ‬participant‭ ‬in‭ ‬our‭ ‬physical or‭ ‬virtual event. <ul><li>CONSEQUENCES‭ ‬OF‭ ‬UNACCEPTABLE‭ ‬BEHAVIOR</li></ul>Anyone‭ ‬asked‭ ‬to‭ ‬stop‭ ‬unacceptable‭ ‬behavior‭ ‬is‭ ‬expected‭ ‬to‭ ‬comply‭ ‬immediately. If‭ ‬a‭ ‬community‭ ‬member‭ ‬engages‭ ‬in‭ ‬unacceptable‭ ‬behavior,‭ ‬organizers‭ ‬may‭ ‬take‭ action‭ to stop the unacceptable behavior,‭ ‬up‭ ‬to‭ ‬and‭ ‬including‭ ‬a‭ ‬temporary‭ ‬ban‭ ‬or‭ ‬permanent‭ ‬expulsion‭ ‬from‭ ‬any ‬community‭ event ‬without‭ ‬warning‭ (‬and‭ ‬without‭ ‬refund‭ ‬in‭ ‬the‭ ‬case‭ ‬of‭ ‬a‭ ‬paid‭ ‬event‭)‬.<ul><li>IF‭ ‬YOU‭ ‬WITNESS‭, ‬SUBJECT‭ ‬TO‭ ‬UNACCEPTABLE‭ ‬BEHAVIOR OR WANT TO ADDRESS‭ ‬GRIEVANCES</li></ul>Speak to an organizer or volunteer.Email the PRGDA Board at prgdaa@gmail.com.3. Upload your game. All teams are expected to upload a playable version of their game, a link, or set of instructions to enable visitors to the game page to play their game. Upload is to commence by 3 PM AST, Sunday (July 30st), and no more uploads will be possible after the jam ends, 5 PM AST, Sunday (July 30st).4. Share your own work. You must share any code and assets used for creating the game that you are legally allowed to share without breaking any other legal agreements. Don't share any code belonging to your employer or anyone else other than yourself, or upload anything that is under NDA or other legal constraint. One of the aims of the event is to help others learn from your work, so please assist with this by allowing people to tinker with the results of your work.5. Respect the ideals of the jam. Whatever creative decisions you make when creating your game, keep in mind the shared goal of collaborating, learning, and sharing among the Puerto Rico game development community. Use tools and assets that allow your game to be licensed under creative commons. Upload ​a reasonably complete and playable game and any source code and assets for educational purposes. Anything you create will remain your property within the terms of our licensing agreement after the jam is done.6. Enjoy yourself! Learn from one another, create together and have fun together. What the Jam!? isn't just about making games, it’s also about creating friendships, connections, experiences, and memories.

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?Yes, the participant must be at least 18 years old. If under 18 years old, the participant must be with their legal guardian throughout the event. The legal guardian does not need to purchase a ticket.Can I participate remotely?Yes, you can participate remotely or hybrid.Do I need to buy a ticket in order to spectate?No, feel free to pass by and see the progress of the games being developed .Are there a min or max amount of people per team?Yes, only up to five (5) people per team are allowed. There is, however, no minimum.Will there be food at the event?While we understand the importance of fueling your creativity, we are currently in the process of securing sponsors to cover the food for the event. Unfortunately, at the moment, we haven't finalized any arrangements. However, we encourage participants to bring their own snacks and beverages to keep themselves energized throughout the 48-hour Game Jam. We will keep you updated on any developments regarding food sponsorship. Stay tuned!Will I be able to sleep there?Yes, you will be able to sleep at Atlantic University College as long as you are a participant or a legal guardian. Just bring a sleeping bag with you and you should be fine.Do I have to be at the place for the entire event or will I be kicked out if I leave at some point?You are free to come and go as you please. If you'd rather sleep in your own bed than at the locale, then go ahead. If you need a midnight snack from someplace, then no worries, your team and project will be waiting for your return. There are no consequences for leaving the place and returning further on.Do I need to have previous experience to participate?Not at all, this is a fun learning experience for beginners and veterans alike.What is the max amount of people allowed at the in-person space?50 people in the in-person space, currently.Do I have to use any specific game engine or software?Nope, you are free to use whichever game engine and/or software that you are comfortable with. There are no restrictions in that part.Will there be prizes?There will not be any prizes. This is more of a collaborative event than a competition.What happens if I don't get to complete my game?There's no issue with that. You upload your last playable build to the webpage and hopefully, even after the game jam ends, you'll continue working on your awesome game to completion.What should I bring?We recommend that you bring a jacket in case it's too cold, your working equipment (PC, headphones, etc.), notebook and pencil, toothbrush, deodorant, extra clothes, a washcloth (to somewhat clean yourself), bottled water, and snacks, just in case.Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?Yes, or through the app, so we can verify your registration.Are there LAN ports available to connect to my desktop?No, the jam site is WiFi only.What are the available t-shirt sizes for the Premium Tickets?XS, S, M, L , XL, XXL
