"WHAT OUT-OF-NETWORK THERAPISTS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT BILLING"

Saturday, June 15, 2024

11 am- 1 pm Pacific / 12 pm – 2 pm Mountain

1 pm – 3 pm Central / 2 pm – 4 pm Eastern

CAN’T MAKE IT LIVE? THE WEBINAR WILL BE RECORDED! All registrants will automatically get the link to the recording, to watch at your convenience.

If you never join an insurance plan, you may feel you don't need to know how insurance works. But your lack of knowledge about insurance can hurt your clients, and can even hurt you. Your client's claims may be denied due to your coding or billing errors. And if you haven't kept good notes, clients may not be reimbursed, or their treatment may not be covered.

Yes, even out-of-network (OON) therapists can have notes and care reviewed whenever a client submits a superbill/invoice to a health plan!

In this webinar, we will discuss what EVERY out-of-network therapist should know about billing -- particularly about billing insurance, but also about handling finances with private pay clients.

TOPICS WILL INCLUDE:

  • Billing for telehealth -- will out-of-network therapy continue to be covered?
  • How to retain potential new clients even though you aren't in-network with their plan
  • How you can help your clients who have insurance to get reimbursed
  • Should you help clients check coverage? If so, how to do it, and what to ask
  • Ethical sliding scale fees
  • What should be on your superbill/invoice
  • The dangers of Single-Case Agreements
  • Do out-of-network providers need to worry about audits? (hint: Yes!)
  • What plans need to see in your notes so they reimburse your clients
  • Why a health plan might deny your client's claim
  • Can you refuse to give superbills?
  • If time: How you can help clients afford treatment

PLUS, FREE DOWNLOADS: Participants will be given two downloadable forms

  • A sample superbill
  • Handout: "What Out-of-Network Clients Should Ask When Checking Coverage"
