What is Circularity?

The NYC Public Schools Office of Energy and Sustainability integrates climate action into the daily operations of schools. Working within the Division of School Facilities, we reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy management, reduce waste, and promote access to gardens and outdoor learning. In this session, we'll walk through examples of circularity, in preparation for NYC Circularity Day in March.

What is circularity anyway? It's a sustainable model, process, or economic system focused on re-use and waste elimination. So if you're ever reduced waste in the cafeteria, organized uniform or book swaps, or repaired a button on a shirt, congratulations - you've been involved in circularity! In this webinar, <a href="https://barnard.edu/profiles/sandra-goldmark" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Sandra Goldmark</a> (author, Director of Sustainability at Barnard College, and Senior Assistant Dean for Interdisciplinary Engagement at Columbia Climate School) will explore examples of circularity. We'll investigate our relationship with stuff and how we can get to a more sustainable, equitable, and circular pattern of consumption.
