What if we decided to attack?

Between the Seas' mission is to promote contemporary dance, theater and music by Mediterranean artists in the Mediterranean, North America and beyond. In 2019, Between the Seas started operating from its own home, 1927 art space, in downtown Athens: a space for laboratory work and open process, research, performance, and visual arts.

What revolution is needed in your context/country/society? Why hasn’t it happened yet, despite all the criticism and demonstrations?

[scroll down for English]Στα πλαίσια της επίσκεψής της στην Αθήνα για την περφόρμανς Trans/missions, η ομάδα Visoes Uteis θα παραδώσει 3ωρό σεμινάριο Σάββατο 8 Φεβρουαρίου με θέμα “ Κι αν αποφασίζαμε να επιτεθούμε;”. Το σεμινάριο θα εμπνέεται απο τη θεματική της παράστασης. Οι καλλιτέχνες θα μοιραστούν το πλαίσιο και τη διαδικασία δημιουργίας του έργου και θα διερευνήσουν μαζί με τους συμμετέχοντες και με παραστασιακές μεθόδους κάποιες απο τις ιδεές και επηρροές τους γύρω απο το θέμα της επανάστασης και της συλλογικής κινητοποίησης: τι είδους επανάσταση χρειάζεται στο δικό μας χώρο/χώρα/κοινωνία; Γιατί δεν έχει συμβεί ακόμα παρά την κριτική και τις επιμέρους κινητοποιήσεις; ποιά χαρακτηριστικά εντοπίζουμε στον εαυτό μας και την κοινότητά μας που ενδεχομένως σαμποτάρουν την αλλαγή την οποία επιθυμούμε; The workshop will be led by Carlos Costa and João Martins the authors and performers of the play “trans/mission” and it will be inspired by the play’s themes and creative process.The artists will share the main context and collaborative process behind the creation of the play, and then invite the participants to identify and explore in a performative way some of their own ideas and references on the subject of revolution and collective mobilization: What revolution is needed in your context/country/society? Why hasn’t it happened yet, despite all the criticism and demonstrations? What specific characteristics do you identify in yourself and your community that may be sabotaging the change you desire? The workshop is addressed to artists, activists, students and lovers of theatre. Cost: 10 euros.
