Wet Specimen Workshop

We are working hard to bring Chicago its first Insect and Taxidermy Museum! Our focus is connecting to the beauty of nature in a non-traditional sense. During these events we will engage all of our senses to foster both  excitement and growth. At The Insect Asylum we encourage you to explore, as we do! Every time you walk through our doors we are hoping you  engage with the exhibits and develop a true sense of belonging with nature. Our mission is to allow people to get excited, to learn and to grow. We understand that inspiration takes flight in many forms. Come and get inspired, create, and connect with a beautiful community! Also, please keep in mind The Insect Asylum is a self-funded endeavor. This labor of love is ever growing, any and all funds we raise help us bring more to the community! We want to make our project affordable to everyone, so if you can afford to sponsor entrance for someone else please reach out. <h3>Wet Specimen Workshop</h3>Choose your favorite from our stunning collection of preserved animals then dive into the hands-on world of wet specimen preservation! This immersive workshop will guide you through each step of creating your own wet specimen—from preparation and posing to sealing it beautifully in a formalin jar. Reptiles we have to offer: iguanas, monitors, snakes - first come first serve!💀 All materials provided🧪 Learn the full preservation process🎓 No experience necessaryWhether you're a curious beginner or a science/art enthusiast, you'll walk away with new skills and a jarred creation that's both educational and beautifully eerie.Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, the adult must get an observer ticket if they do not participate. If you are unable to make it please keep in mind that there are no returns but we are happy to exchange your ticket for a different TIA event if given notice in advance.Accessibility Note: Classes are held in our basement space, which is currently not wheelchair accessible.
