WEST COAST SWING DANCE CLASSES IN SAN MATEO!

Join us and come groove at our fun West Coast Swing Group Classes, happening at the Motion Arts Center dance studio in the heart of downtown San Mateo!

We will guide you through the basics and help you master the techniques of this smooth and vibrant dance form! Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, our classes are designed to cater to all skill levels and are a great way to meet new people, make friends, and build a sense of community. You'll be surprised at how quickly you'll learn and how much fun you'll have!

Where is the studio located?

The Motion Arts Center is located at 217 S Claremont St in the heart of Downton San Mateo within walking distance of shops, restaurants, coffee shops, a movie theater.

Where can I park my car?

There is FREE On-Street Parking After 6pm and in all city-owned parking facilities everyday after 6pm and all day Sundays and on city-designated holidays. The New Kiku Parking Garage with 526 spaces is located at 400 E. 5th Avenue in San Mateo(you can park there and walk two blocks to the studio).

Do I need a partner to attend a class?

No, no partner is necessary to come our dance classes, the teachers will rotate students during the class. Actually, it is a great way to meet new people! The majority of classes and events are attended by a mix of singles and couples.

What do you teach in the Beginner Level class?

This class is designed for students new to the dance. It will be focused on getting the basic rhythms and foundational patterns (left side pass, underarm turn, and sugar push) of the dance.

What do you teach in the Pre-Intermediate Level class?

This class is designed for students who feel comfortable in their basics, but want to expand their knowledge and repertoire before heading off to an intermediate level class. This class will focus on lots of basic variations and foundational whip technique with both 6-count, 8-count variations.
