Welcome 2025 with Open Austin and all Austin-area public interest technologists!
Open Austin is a local civic tech nonprofit and we would love to spend time with our government partners, ecosystem partners, and local volunteers. This year, we’re doing everything we can to build Austin’s “public interest tech” ecosystem, so whether you're a seasoned professional or just starting out, we want to see you.
Who is a "public interest technologist"? Engineers, designers, policy makers, gov/ngo staff, citizen activists - anyone that believes that tech should be used creatively for "back-of-the-house" advocacy to make our community stronger.
Food and drink provided.
If you want to come but money is tight, reach out to the event organizers.

- Registration (opens 6:15pm)
 - Mingle + bingo
 - Welcome remarks (6:45pm)
 - Panel discussion - Amy Stansbury from the The Austin Common, and Becky Bullard from Democrasexy

 - Alliance of Civic Technologists
 - Independence Brewing
 - Public Sector Office

Technologists for the Public Good (TPG) is proud to support Open Austin and Austin-area civic technologists. TPG is a 501(c)6 nonprofit professional association for people who are reimagining how the government serves the public through technology, data, and design. TPG provides tools, resources, and a community in which people can find and learn from one another with a common goal of helping government work better to deliver better outcomes to the public. If you're interested in being a part of a nation-wide community of technologists working to improve public services, check out TPG's online community.
@publicsectoroffice, an Instagram account since 2018, has documented everyday scenes of bureaucratic environments from the poignant to the bizarre. The account has blossomed into a national network of bureaucrats with a sense of humor - hosting events, producing merch, and supporting our public servants through camaraderie and commiseration.
