Weekend At Bertha's

Hey Now, campers ... Weekend at Bertha's is back in 2024!! We guarantee this edition will be as unique as anything you've experienced at a music festival. As a counterculture event, we will take the hot issues of the year, and repackage them in a new form full of comedy, intensity, art and music. While the conditions in the world are full of chaos, we will create conditions full of novelty for these three days. And yes ... it will be psychedelic.

Friday night at WAB will change this year. In previous years, we have featured the best our money could buy in Southern Rock, featuring a member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, and the band Molly Hatchet. This year, the British are coming...

Randolph Peter Best (né Scanland; born 24 November 1941) is an English musician who was the drummer for the Beatles from 1960 to 1962. He was dismissed immediately before the band achieved worldwide fame and is one of several people who have been referred to as a fifth Beatle. Best's mother, Mona Best (1924–1988), opened the Casbah Coffee Club in the cellar of the Bests' house in Liverpool. The Beatles (at the time known as the Quarrymen) played some of their first concerts at the club. The Beatles invited Best to join the band on 12 August 1960, on the eve of the group's first Hamburg season of club dates. Over 30 years later, Best received credit for his work with the Beatles after the release of their 1995 compilation of their early recordings on Anthology 1; Best played the drums on 10 of the album's tracks, including the Decca auditions. His time with the Beatles would end on August 16, 1962.

Pete was in a few bands afterward, preformed as a civil servant, and ran the family-owned Casbah Club with his brother, founded by his mother. In 1988, after twenty years of turning down all requests to play drums in public, Best finally relented, appearing at a Beatles convention in Liverpool. He and his brother Roag performed, and afterwards his wife and mother both told him, "You don't know it, but you're going to go back into show business."[137] Best now regularly tours the world with the Pete Best Band, sharing the drumming with his younger brother Roag.[138] The Pete Best Band's album Haymans Green, made entirely from original material, was released on 16 September 2008 in the US, 24 October 2008 worldwide, excluding the UK, and 27 October 2008 in the UK. Pete Best Band will be in Delaware on Friday, July 26. Their set will begin at 7pm, running an hour and half to two hours. They will play Pete Best originals, music of the era, and the Beatles songs that Pete Best played with them and The Quarrymen. They will be preceded by King Plays Ho, playing the music of Hawaii and their most Iconic musician.. Don Ho. Pete Best Band will be followed by Rainbow Full of Sound, led by Waynard Shelling. Rainbow Full Of Sound will play The Grateful Dead's album "Blues For Allah", in it's entirety, plus many other classics. Other bands on Friday include Delaware's Black Mambas, and The Psychedelic Elders from NJ. Friday will conclude just past midnight, and we will host our first curated drum circle until we stop ... maybe sunrise.

On Saturday, July 27, Diamond State Merry Pranksters will nominate Vermin Supreme for president!Vermin Love Supreme (born 1960 or 1961) is an American performance artist and activist who has run as a candidate in various local, state, and national elections in the United States. He served as a member of the Libertarian Party's judicial committee. Supreme is known for wearing a boot as a hat and carrying a large toothbrush, and has said that if elected President of the United States, he will pass a law requiring people to brush their teeth. He has campaigned on a platform of zombie apocalypse awareness and time travel research, and promised a free pony for every American. In 2011, he participated in the Occupy Boston protests. He is the subject of the 2014 documentary Who Is Vermin Supreme? An Outsider Odyssey, which follows his 2012 campaign and explores his life as an activist and political prankster. Supreme campaigned for the Libertarian Party's 2020 presidential nomination. At the 2020 Libertarian National Convention he came in third place, receiving 206 delegate votes. verminsupreme.com

His campaign for president is in full swing in 2024, and he will appear in Delaware on Saturday July 27. He will deliver his platform LIVE, then take questions about how he will attempt to solve our problems, as president, once elected ... from the attendees. We have some great music planned, too! Proceeding Vermin Supreme for President will be Mums The Word, and following Supreme will be One Eyed Jack. Other acts include Colorado's Mr. Mota, Urban Shaman Attack from Delaware, Mysterytrain from Pennsylvania, Flowpoetry from the Midwest, and lots to be announced.
