About this event

  • Event lasts 28 days 3 hours

Take a deep dive into color mixing and explore Mid-Century colorist, Josef Albers' contributions.

"If one says 'red'—the name of a color—and there are fifty people listening, it can be expected that there will be fifty reds in their minds. And one can be sure that all these reds will be very different."
– Josef Albers

In this class, instructor Kristen Guest will help guide you into the world of color and break things down into simple concepts. We will be creating color studies each week as we apply Josef Albers' timeless color methods that artists still use today!

We will be referencing Albers' book, "Interaction of Color." It is not necessary to purchase this book, but if you already own a copy, feel free to bring it to class.

Join us as we explore how to:

  • see and identify colors in the world around us
  • learn more about paint and which colors to buy
  • make colors "pop"
  • mix muted tones that are rich not lifeless
  • achieve ultra-bright and vibrant colors
  • ...and more!
